Can You Really Build A Responsive List with Freebie Giveaway Events?

By J. Toney of J. Toney Publishing

Giveaway events are a great way to build a list of opt-in subscribers to your mailing list. If you are at all involved in Internet marketing, then you are probably aware of the freebie E-product giveaway events where you can download hundreds of free e-books, templates and software products simply for signing up to be on somebody's email list. The problem many marketers have with using this method to build a subscriber list is that they are left with a list of freebie seekers, rather than a list of cash in hand paying customers.

Because of this, many of the top name Internet marketers are advising to steer away from giveaway events as a way to build a responsive list. In part due to the release of Michael Rasmusen's latest product offering "Get More Buyers", the focus in the IM industry is shifting from simply building a huge opt-in list to building a list of buying customers.

So the question I want to address is this - Is it possible to build a list of paying customers using freebie giveaways? What results you receive using giveaways, and how you answer this question are in part a result of how you structure your freebie offer, and how you follow up with your prospects after the giveaway.

Immediately after opting into your list, the first thing your prospect needs to see is your one time offer. Just as your giveaway needs to be a quality product that they can actually use and benefit from, the one time offer needs to be something of real value at a price they would be foolish to pass by. It is essential to provide a quality product to your prospect, even if it is a free product, because they probably do not know anything about you, and your setting the precedent for what kind of quality they will expect from you in the future.

In your order process, you need to have your prospects opt into a second list, perhaps after they have submitted payment for your one time offer, and before they are given the download link. This is your buyers list. The first list is your prospect list. The next goal is to move as many of the people as possible who have downloaded your freebie product off of your prospect list and onto your buyers list.

Granted, you will receive a significant number of subscribers to your list who are not action takers, but are merely looking for freebies. Whether or not you will be able to ever make any money from this list will depend in part on how you continue to communicate and market to them. Many of the freebie seekers are simply information junkies who will never buy anything. Others are newbie internet marketers who are either looking to build a catalog of resell rights products to use in building their own business, or are desperately trying to find a realistic way to make money online, but are hoping to find the information for free because they are too timid to be willing to invest in their business education at this point.

For the first group of newbies you have an excellent opportunity to move them to your buyers list by providing them the means and how-to information to utilize the resell rights products they have downloaded. If this is not a product you are comfortable creating, there are a number of products on utilizing PLR and MRR products available at ClickBank. For the second group you need to earn their trust and establish yourself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy mentor in order to bring them into the fold.

Far too many Internet marketers do not grasp the need to establish a rapport with their subscribers, and barrage them with a constant stream of product offers, without providing anything of value. Constant pitching, hype or strong arm techniques will not work. If you reward your subscribers with value for being on your list, they will reward you with loyalty and often times with their dollars.

It is possible to build a list of buyers using giveaway events by funneling the initial buyers off the top with your one time offer, then extracting the remaining buyers by providing them quality information and product recommendations that will meet their needs.

David Cranham and Bill McRea are currently accepting JV contributors for a great giveaway event called "The Thanksgiving Giveaway2008". Some of the biggest names in Internet Marketing will be participating in this event! Each gift contributed to the giveaway is personally reviewed by David and Bill to ensure that it is quality and current. The systems and great products make this the most effective list building opportunity this year. So you will be able to build a huge list of subscribers in a short amount of time. Not to mention the commissions you will earn from the many upgrades and one-time-offer purchases that will surely happen. So do yourself a favor and follow this URL and signup now since we will be launching very soon!
